Bank Account

Why do I have to connect my bank account?

Credit Genie uses Plaid to connect your bank account and verify your information. This helps us determine eligibility for advances and provide insights into your spending. A recurring fee of per month or  biweekly is charged to maintain the bank connection.

What are the minimum requirements for my bank account?

The bank account connected for receiving and repaying advances:

  • - Must be at open for at least 90 days
  • - Contains at least $750 per month in recurring direct deposits over the past 90 days
  • - Receives at least 2 direct payroll deposits no more than 16 days apart per month
  • - Is not a joint account

How do I disconnect my bank account?

Please log in to the app, go to the Settings tab, and disconnect your bank account. You can also disconnect your bank account via Plaid by visiting https://my.plaid.com.

Advances

Do I qualify for an advance?

In addition to the bank account requirements, Credit Genie analyzes various financial factors to determine the advance amount it believes you can afford while being able to settle your advance by your next estimated payday. These factors include, but are not limited to:

  • - Your income history as obtained through your bank connection or otherwise
  • - Bank account balance history as obtained through your bank connection or otherwise
  • - Previous Advance history and repayment
  • - Your general spending patterns
  • - Other potential risk factors which may change from time to time, as determined solely by Credit Genie

The Advance amount you are eligible for may change every time you request an additional advance.

How many times can I apply for an advance if I do not qualify?

Our goal is to ensure our advances do not create additional financial stress. We update our qualifications regularly. Since there is no credit check, we encourage you to apply again. You can apply once per day. However, we typically do not make updates to qualifications more than a couple of times per month.

How long does it take to receive an advance?

Express

If an advance is requested before 2:00 PM ET, Monday through Friday except for bank holidays, the advance should be deposited into your bank account by 9:00 PM* the same day. If the advance is requested after 2:00 PM ET, it should arrive the following business day by 9:00 PM*.

Standard

Your advance should show up in your bank account within 3 business days after requesting it.*

Instant

Get your advance delivered to a linked debit card in minutes.

*The app provides an estimated date. Delivery times cannot be guaranteed even with express options as we are unable to control how a user's bank processes transactions.

Repayment

How does the repayment process work?

Credit Genie withdraws the repayment on your due date which is displayed on the app and typically aligns with your next payday.

It normally takes 4 business days for our payment provider to clear the repayment of the advance. Once we have confirmation, we automatically update in the app that the advance has been paid. Our bank confirmation may be pending even though your bank transactions show a payment to Credit Genie. We are working on a debit card option which will process advances and repayments faster.

We cannot manually mark advances as paid.

Can I change my repayment date?

You are allowed to change your repayment date if the due date does not align with your next payday. Otherwise, on the scheduled repayment date, Credit Genie will check whether you have sufficient funds to pay your advance. If you do, your account will be debited for the advance amount plus any express fees and tips you agreed to. If you do not have sufficient funds**, we will check again periodically. Bank account information is updated once per day. Plaid does not receive information regarding pending debits.

**Credit Genie makes no warranties that an overdraft will not occur or that your bank will not charge you fees.

Can I pay the advance back early?

Absolutely! Reach out to us via a help request at the following link: https://creditgenie.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and we will be happy to adjust your repayment date to an earlier day.

How does Credit Genie work?

Credit Genie is a personal finance app designed to help our users with personal Cash Advances when they need them and provide tools to break the cycle of borrowing. We provide insights into our users' spending habits and, through our partnerships with NFCC and Freedom Financial, we help our users find the right solutions to become debt free.

How much does the Credit Genie app cost?

The Credit Genie app is free to use and includes interest-free and fee-free advances to help you make ends meet until your next payday. There is a recurring fee of per month or biweekly for maintaining your bank account connection with our app.

Who can use the Credit Genie app?

US residents 18 years and older can use our app.

What do you do with my information?

The information provided when you sign up for a Credit Genie account is used to verify your identity. If you choose the option for help with debt relief, Credit Genie will share your information with our debt relief partners.

How do I delete the app?

While we are sorry to see you go, we understand your decision. Please log in to the app, go to the Settings tab, and disconnect your bank account. Then contact us via a help request at the following link: https://creditgenie.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and request that we disable your account. We will be happy to take care of this for you.
