Open the Credit Genie app and tap the Finances tab in the bottom menu. Then, select the Budgets tab at the top of the screen. Select a Budget Category from the dropdown menu. Tap the current category name to switch between the ones you've set up.
Right now, Credit Genie uses a predefined set of categories to keep budgeting and insights accurate. You can't create a brand-new custom category (like "Kids" or "Pet Supplies"). But the current list is pretty flexible — just pick the category that comes closest. Want to suggest a new category? Let our support team know — we love feedback!
To stay in the loop, make sure you've enabled push notifications. We'll send alerts for important insights, like approaching your budget in a certain category or getting your paycheck. Turn on notifications to get these alerts.
Tap the transaction you want to edit. On the Transaction Details screen, tap the current category or look for an Edit Category option. Choose a more fitting category from the list — like switching "Shopping" to "Groceries" or "Entertainment" to "Dining Out." Confirm your choice — your transaction is now recategorized.

Not yet. Credit Genie's Money Manager tools allow you to learn about inflows and outflows happening on your connected account. Payment of your credit card bill will show up as an outflow, but your credit card balance and individual spending items will not appear.
